Vladimir Putin has congratulated German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder on the results of an extraordinary congress of the Social Democratic Party ((SPD) of Germany.
"What you and your government have planned is in the context of the problems of the world economy," said the head of the Russian state at a bilateral meeting with the Chancellor. Vladimir Putin pointed out that the state and prospects for the development of the world economy were discussed in detail on Monday at the G-8 summit session.
In the opinion of the Russian president, the support which was rendered at the congress to the German Chancellor can give "a substantial impulse to the development of the European and world economy." In his turn, Gerhard Schroeder noted that the first meeting of the G-8 was devoted to giving a new dynamics to the world economy.
"Our problems are different, but we must solve them jointly," said the Chancellor. He noted that every G-8 member country "has its specific features, but there is much in common, there are also common problems." Gerhard Schroeder thanked Vladimir Putin for "the warm words."
