Iraq's representatives won't take part in OPEC conference in Doha

The General Secretariat of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries has sent no official invitation to the Iraqi Oil Ministry to take part in the 125th extraordinary conference of oil and energy ministers of OPEC member states to be held in Doha, Qatar, on June 10-11, a high-ranking source at the OPEC Headquarters in Vienna reported on Thursday.

The OPEC decided not to invite Iraq because the country has no legitimate government. "Until Iraq elects the government recognized by the international law, Baghdad won't participate in OPEC's official gatherings.

OPEC leaders believe that Thamer Abbas al-Ghadban appointed by US occupation forces acting oil minister will hold his office temporarily.
