Azerbaijan president's son has not presidential ambitions?

The press service of the Azeri head of state has denied media reports on the official nomination of Ilham, the son of the incumbent president of Azerbaijan Geidar Aliev, for presidency.

Reports on the nomination in two to three weeks to come of Ilham Aliev to the post of the president of Azerbaijan are not true to fact, said the press service of the executive presidential staff.

The RIA Novosti correspondent also quotes the press service of the ruling party Eni Azerbaijan /New Azerbaijan/, one of whose leaders Ilham Aliev is, as saying such reports are also "not true to fact." Ilham Aliev is the first vice-president of the Azeri state oil company, first deputy chairman of the party Eni Azerbaijan, deputy to the Azeri melli-mejlis /parliament/. He is also in charge of the National Olympic Committee.
