On Saturday the State Secretary of Vatican Angelo Sodano will pay an official visit to Kazakhstan.
On May 17th the cardinal will visit the country's capital Astana, and on May 18th he will leave for Karaganda, where he will take part in the ceremonial service at a catholic cathedral, the domestic policy department of the Karaganda region administration reported.
On May 19th the Vatican State Secretary will visit a construction site in south-east Karaganda, where a new catholic cathedral will be built. The cardinal will consecrate the first stone put in the cathedral's foundation.
Sodano is visiting Kazakhstan upon the invitation of the republic's president Nursultan Nazarbayev.
