Interpol actively co-operates with Russia

Interpol Secretary General Ronald Noble "is fully satisfied with the level of co-ordination with Russian law-enforcement bodies".

" I recently met Russian Interior Minister Boris Gryzlov personally and we discussed possibilities for further joint fight against crime. I can say that we have reached full understanding on these issues," Noble emphasised in an interview with Russian journalists.

When commenting on the recent terrorist act in Saudi Arabia that had killed dozens of people, he said that fight against terrorism was extremely difficult, especially against suicide bombers. That is why his organisation is ready to provide its databases to all interested bodies in order to facilitate search and detention of terrorists.

In recent years terrorists' activities have shown that individual countries cannot combat terrorism and organised crime, that do not recognise national borders, on their own, said Interpol President Jesus Espigares Mira at a conference that opened Wednesday in the Dutch town of Noordwijk. Under these conditions, Interpol is becoming a structure that co-ordinates the activities of national law-enforcement bodies and enables them to exchange information, thus increasing the efficiency of the fight against crime.

The 32nd regional European conference of Interpol is attended by 123 delegates from 45 European countries. They will be discussing for three days the issues of fight against terrorism, illegal immigration and human trade, as well as pornography and crime in the Internet.
