The Education Ministers of the CIS countries approve a Common Nomenclature of Scientific Specialities

The Education Ministers of the member-countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) have approved a Common Nomenclature of Specialities of Scientific Workers in the Commonwealth Countries.

The decision was signed at the eighth conference of the education ministers which was held on Tuesday in Moscow under the chairmanship of Russian Education Minister Vladimir Filippov.

As the basis for this document was taken the nomenclature of specialities of scientific workers which was approved by the Ministry of Industry, Science and Technologies and the Education Ministry of the Russian Federation in January 2000.

Apart from that, the Education Ministries of the CIS countries signed a document on cooperation between the higher schools of the Commonwealth in the process of integrating into the European system of higher education and on cooperation with international organisations.

Agreements have also been concluded on the development of the education system for adults and on the enlightenment activity in the CIS countries, and also on coordinating cooperation in the sphere of using information and telecommunication technologies in education in the Commonwealth countries.
