Iraq to Issue New Currency

New currency will soon be issued in Iraq, the Iraq-based al-Haqiqa newspaper reported Tuesday with reference to the country's Central Bank.

One new dinar will equal a thousand old dinars. New banknotes will bear the image of King Hammurapi of Old Babylonia instead of Saddam Hussein.

The old currency is to be exchanged within three months.
