New Iraq Says It Won't Pay Saddam's Debts

The provisional administration of Iraq has refused to pay the debts of Saddam Hussein's regime, said representatives of primary Iraqi social and political groups at a meeting in Bagdad on Tuesday.

One of the leaders of the Shiite commonality Said Muassa al-Husseini told Rosbalt that 'Saddam made all the debts, and now that he is gone, so are the debts.' Al-Husseini also said that the West 'must show understanding for the problems of the new Iraq, which is in ruins and anarchy and can not pay its bills.'

According to several reports, the US White House has already said that it is prepared to petition for the writing off of debts of the new Iraq before the entire civilized world.
