Belarussians Are Ready to Vote at Referendum For Unification of Belarus and Russia

As many as 57.5 per cent of the Belarussians are ready to vote at a referendum for unification of Belarus and Russia.

23.8 per cent of the pollees declared to be against unification, and 8.6 per cent did not participate in the voting.

Such data were obtained by the Belarussian Independent Institute of Socio-Economic and Political Studies in the course of the nationwide public opinion poll.

As many as 56.3 per cent of the pollees are confident that Russia has made greater progress in building a democratic state and civil society than Belarus.

The Belorusskaya Delovaya Gazeta newspaper has written that 1,488 pollees participated in the study carried out in March-April 2003.
