Decisions on Rapid-Deployment Collective Forces to Be Taken at Dyushambe Summit

At the session of the Collective Security Council (SKB) in Dyushambe on Monday the heads of the states - parties to the Treaty on Collective Security (DKB) will take a number of decisions aimed at improving the activity of the Rapid Deployment Collective Forces (KSBR) in Central Asia, SKB General Secretary Valery Nikolayenko said in an interview to RIA Novosti.

According to him, "this direction causes the gravest concern of the states in connection with the intensified drug trafficking from Afghanistan, as well as the Iraqi situation". Besides that, "there is information on the intensification of the Taliban bandit formations in Afghanistan and of the Islamic movements in Uzbekistan, and for this reason all this causes concern." Speaking of the agenda of the joint meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs (SMID) and of the Council of Ministers of Defence (SMO) of the DKB member countries in Dyushambe which is preceding the SKB session, Nikolayenko said that its participants had considered a package of documents on the main bodies of the military-political Organisation of the Treaty on Collective Security which is being established.

According to the SKB General Secretary, it is also planned to adopt a number of financial documents concerning the share contributions to the ODKB budget, and to consider the structure and number of its working bodies.
