Drug smuggling channel cut off in Uzbekistan

The Uzbek National Security Service /NSS/ officers have cut off a wide drug smuggling channel from Tajikistan to Russia by transit through Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

In the course of operational search actions a Mazda car with Kazakhstan's number was detained, Olimzhan Turakulov, Head of Uzbekistan's NSS PR Bureau, reported. The car, belonging to a Kazakh citizen, was searched and 7kg of heroin were seized.

Two women, citizens of Moscow and Tashkent, were caught red-handed, transporting heroin, 9kg in total, which they had received from their Tajik suppliers, in a VAZ-2106 car.

A 50-year-old citizen of Tashkent was also arrested on suspicion of arranging the smuggling of the seized drug lot.

Investigation is underway.
