Russia, India, share views on fighting international terrorism

Russia and India have common views on all international problems concerned with fighting terrorism, said the participants in the 5th session of the joint Russian-Indian working group on Afghanistan being held in Delhi.

They stressed that double standards in assessing terrorism were unacceptable. The notion of international terrorism was known in Russia and in India before the September 11th terrorist attacks on the USA, they pointed out.

Head of the Russian delegation, first deputy foreign minister Vyacheslav Trubnikov held meetings with Indian foreign minister Jaswant Singh, deputy prime minister L.K. Adwani and the prime minister's aide for national security Brajesh Mishra. The Indian-Pakistani settlement was among the topics on the agenda. Moscow is against internationalization of the Kashmir problem, according to the Indian foreign ministry. The Russian representatives said it was necessary to settle all the differences between Delhi and Islamabad on a bilateral basis.
