Russian satellite system receives European certification

The European Union has completed the project of the TACIS technical support program on certification of the Russian Global navigation satellite system (GNSS). The project with a budget of 2,067,000 euro was launched two years ago, said the European Commission's delegation to Russia.

The EU supreme executive body pointed out that the task of the project was to contribute to "overhauling of the Russian navigation satellite system and expanding its civil use".

The GNSS certification centre set up within the project is to contribute to "bringing the Russian satellite navigation system in line with the European ones, and will also allow to make it more attractive for the European market," the EC delegation said.
