Meetings between "four" international intermediaries for Mideastern settlement in New York on Tuesday

Arab foreign ministers will participate in the meetings between the "four" international intermediaries for Mideastern settlement (Russia, the USA, UN and EU) for the first time.

These meetings, organised by the USA in New York, are unofficially regarded as "an international mini-conference" for the Middle East, the sources in the UN told RIA Novosti.

Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov, US Secretary of State Colin Powell, UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan and EU High Commissioner for Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana are scheduled to meet on Tuesday. According to some data, Colin Powell is to hold bilateral meetings with Igor Ivanov and the Egyptian and Jordanian foreign ministers, currently in New York.

Powell and Ivanov are expected to discuss the forthcoming Moscow meeting on strategic stability between heads of Russian and US military and foreign policy departments, scheduled for September.

According to RIA Novosti's data, Powell is to hold several meetings in the US mission in the UN.

At 5.30 the "four" international intermediaries will meet with the Egyptian and Jordanian Foreign Ministers and, probably, with Saudi Arabia's permanent representative in the UN at the UN Secretary-General's residence. After that, Kofi Annan will address journalists, and the talks will continue at dinner.
