The female passenger who died during a Paris-Tokyo flight was already seriously ill when she got aboard the Japanese Boeing 747, Anatoly Gartman, a deputy chief of the Khabarovsk International Airport, told RIA Novosti after the plane had made an emergency landing there.

According to him, the pilot of the Tokyo-bound Boeing 747 belonging to the Japanese ANA airline suddenly asked for an emergency landing in Khabarovsk due to the critical health condition of one of the passengers on board.

"We gave the permission straight away," said Anatoly Gartman, "and immediately got in touch with the appropriate ambulance and sanitation services whose teams were on the scene half an hour later. As soon as the airliner landed, our medical personnel went aboard but it was too late. The elderly female passenger had already died of a stroke." According to the plane's crew, airport representatives and doctors, the woman had already been in a serious condition when she got aboard the Boeing in Paris. She was accompanied by six people, including a physician. When the plane was approaching Khabarovsk, her condition suddenly badly impaired.

The crew declined an offer to refuel the plane, and the Boeing 747 resumed its flight to Tokyo where it landed shortly afterwards.
