Moscow praises OSCE for its peacekeeping efforts in Bosnia

The Russian government has praised the mission of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe to Bosnia and Herzegovina for what it sees as an "appreciable contribution" to the maintenance of stability and democracy in the former Yugoslav republic.

Deputy Foreign Minister Yevgeny Gusarov today had a meeting with the OSCE mission head, Robert Beecroft, currently visiting Moscow. The two officials discussed the latest developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina, difficulties on the way to the implementation of the 1995 Dayton Accords, which put an end to the ethnic war in the region, and the activity of international agencies in Bosnia and in the Balkans at large.

Beecroft told Gusarov about the OSCE's priority tasks in Bosnia and the preparation for the next national election, scheduled for October 5th.
