Secretary of State for Defence of Great Britain Geoffrey Hoon will pay an official visit to Russia on July 15-17.
As the RIA Novosti correspondent was told in the Embassy of Great Britain in Moscow, all the events of the visit by the British Defence Secretary to Russia will take place in Saint Petersburg.
In the northern capital, Geoffrey Hoon plans to meet with his Russian counterpart Sergei Ivanov and with the chief of the Leningrad military district, Colonel General Valentin Bobryshev.
The British Secretary of State for Defence will also visit the memorial Piskarevskoye cemetery where numerous victims of the Leningrad blockade in 1941-1944 have been buried.
The British Embassy reported that the main aim of the visit is negotiations on key problems of international security and on further development of relations between Russia and Great Britain in the sphere of defence.
