International peacekeeping forces may protect Afghan Ministers

The International peacekeeping forces in Afghanistan /ISAF/ may protect Afghan Ministers, official spokesman for ISAF, Colonel Samet Oz disclosed in the course of a briefing on Tuesday.

According to him, so far there have been no requests from the temporary government upon the protection of Afghan high-standing officials by ISAF. "However, if the request is made, then we will be ready to provide personal protection of Afghan Ministers," Oz stressed.

After the assassination on Saturday of Afghanistan's Deputy Head, Minister of the Social Works Hadji Kadir, the peacekeeping forces re-enforced the protection of the Afghan capital.
