Ufa buries plane collision victims

Identified bodies of 22 children and 11 grown-ups killed in the plane collision in Germany were taken to Ufa to be buried. The jet that carried the bodies was met at the airport of Ufa by the relatives of the victims. The bodies were then taken to the Bashkir capital's Sovetskaya Square, which hosted a farewell ceremony and civil funeral rite.

Top leaders of Bashkiria and victims' relatives took turns in addressing the assembly. Even though the exact time of the funeral wasn't announced, the square was filled with people who had came to offer their condolences and lay flowers.

Despite the summer vacation, many children showed up to say goodbye to their friends and classmates.

The bodies of the rest of the passengers of the Tu-154 will be brought to Russia after identification.

The tragedy occurred on July 2 above Bodensee, Germany. Russia's Tu-154 passenger jet belonging to Bashkir Airlines and a Boeing-757 of the courier service DHL collided at an altitude of 11,000 meters, killing the 12 crew and 57 passengers on board the Tu-154 and the 2 pilots on board the Boeing. Of the passengers, 52 were children headed for a summer vacation.
