Moscow prosecutor flies to Germany for joint fact finding on Tu-154 catastrophe

An investigator from the Moscow regional prosecutor's office has flown to Germany for a joint fact-finding mission on the catastrophe of the Russian Tu-154 jetliner, the RIA Novosti correspondent quotes Andrei Markov, chief of the sector for especially important cases at the Moscow prosecutor's office, as saying on Friday.

Russian investigators want cooperation with their Swiss and German colleagues who are looking into the Tu-154-Boeing crash. The two planes had a collision in the skies above Germany, said Markov. A request has been sent to the Swiss law-enforcement agencies, he said.

The Moscow prosecutor's office began a criminal case on July 2 a few hours after the catastrophe of the Russian Tu-154 airliner. It was flying from Ufa to Spain with a stopover at Domodedovo airport.

As reported earlier, the investigation bodies of Switzerland and Germany are also conducting a criminal investigation of the Tu-154-Boeing 757 collision, which has taken 71 lives.
