Troops evacuate 303 people from flood zone

The Ministry of Defence press-service reported on Friday that over the last 24 hours servicemen had evacuated 303 people from flooded zones in the North Caucasus.

Moreover, 319.8 tons of various loads were delivered to regions hit by floods, including 160.8 tons which were supplied by military aviation. Engineers cleared 224km of road, moved 2,555 cubic metres of earth and re-inforced 139 metres of dams. The local population was also brought 27 tons of drinking water.

214 servicemen from the United Groups of Forces in Chechnya are dealing with the consequences of flooding in Chechnya, as well as 35 engineering and other vehicles and 4 helicopters.

In all, in the 19th June - 5th July period, servicemen have evacuated 3,386 people in Chechnya, while engineering work has been carried out in 200 km of road. Landslides have been cleared from 78.9 km of road, while 6,583 cubic metres of earth have been moved and 10,660 tons of water pumped out. The republic's population has received 1,058 tons of cargo, 636 tons of drinking water. 2,642 people have been guaranteed with bread and hot food.
