The Italian Boeing-757, which collided with the Tu-154, was not fitted out with necessary equipment

The freight Boeing-757 of the DHL company, which collided over Germany with the Tu-154 airliner, was not possibly fitted out with the equipment necessary to prevent clashes in the air.

According to the rules of the US federal aviation service, all passenger planes in the United States are equipped with such systems, but these rules are not applicable to freight planes. When the pilot discovers that another plane nears his plane, the system switches on and warns the pilot of the necessity to change the course.

As the Internet site of the DHL company says, the company's old Boeing-727 planes were replaced by forty-four Boeing-757 planes within the framework of a programme to extend air traffic in Africa and Europe.
