Moscow hopes to find out fate of Russian pilots who disappeared in Angola

Moscow hopes that the work of the special commission for the search and finding out the fate of the Russian pilots, who disappeared in Angola six years ago, will give results. Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov said this after the negotiations with his Portuguese counterpart.

Igor Ivanov said that in view of the changed situation in Angola, the Russian leadership again asked the Angolan leadership to make additional efforts for finding the disappeared pilots. According to Igor Ivanov, a special commission has been set up for this purpose.

In his turn, Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Martinas da Cruz said that both Russia and Portugal were conducting searches of the disappeared pilots among whom was one citizen of Portugal. As the Portuguese minister said, this work is being done through the embassies of Russia and Portugal in Angola, and consultations are being held between the Russian and Portuguese Foreign Ministries. However, "so far we have not got on the tracks of the disappeared pilots," said the minister.
