Georgian authorities identify 4 terrorists as their citizens

The Georgian authorities have admitted that the 4 armed terrorists detained the previous day on Russia's territory are citizens of Georgia. The North Caucasian regional border service administration of Russia reported on Thursday that at present investigations have begun at the Vladikavkaz border unit of four citizens of Georgia who were detained on the Mamison Pass during an attempt to cross the Russian-Georgian border. Three Rumanian-made submachine guns, a carbine, detonators and other terrorist equipment, as well as binoculars and other optical devices were confiscated from the trespassers. The detained men did not carry any documents.

According to the information of the North Caucasian regional administration of the border service, during the first 5 months of the current year more than 20 trespassers have been detained and handed over to law enforcement bodies on suspicion of complicity in the activity of illegal armed formations of Chechen separatists. A considerable number of Chechen separatists and a large number of foreign hirelings from the Al-Qaida terrorist organization are known to be in the Pankisi Gorge of Georgia with the full connivance of the authorities.
