Russian agreements with Kazakhstan and Brazil on space approved

The Council of Federation, the upper chamber of the Russian parliament, has approved the federal law "On ratification of the agreement between the government of the Russian Federation and the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on cooperation in use of space and air equipment, technologies and distant probing of the Earth".

The agreement was signed in Moscow on July 6, 1998. It creates a legal basis for Russian-Kazakh cooperation in using space and air equipment and technologies for keeping and expanding integration links between the air-space scientific and industrial complexes of the two countries.

The coordination of this cooperation is to be carried out by the Russian space agency and state company "Rosvooruzhenie" in Russia and by the science ministry in Kazakhstan.

The Council of Federation has also approved the federal law "On ratification of the agreement between the government of the Russian Federation and the government of Brazil on cooperation in research and use of space for peaceful purposes".

Under the agreement the countries will cooperate in such spheres as space science, research of the space, space meteorology, observation of the Earth from the space, geophysics, space medicine and biotechnology, distant probing, space communication and navigation.
