18 aircraft from Denmark, Norway and the Netherlands to arrive at anti-terror base in Kyrgyzstan

Eighteen fighters and bombers of the Air Forces from Denmark, Norway and the Netherlands will soon land at the anti-terror coalition base at international airport Manas in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Norwegian Defence Minister Kristin Krohn Devold said on Tuesday during her visit to Bishkek.

According to the minister, the newly arrived aircraft will perform combat tasks of the anti-terrorist coalition replacing French Air Force aircraft which will soon leave the coalition base in Manas for home.

In the course of her Kyrgyz visit, Devold has already held negotiations with Kyrgyz defence minister Esen Topoyev. The sides discussed the progress of the anti-terror operation of the coalition forces in Afghanistan and touched upon the development of military cooperation between Norway and Kyrgyzstan.

While visiting the republic, the Norwegian defence minister plans to meet Kyrgyz Prime Minister Nikolai Tanayev.

In addition, Devold will visit the coalition base at Manas airport. The base stations 6 French Mirage-2000 fighters, a few military-cargo aircraft and 1,900 soldiers and officers from 11 countries.

On June 26th, the Norwegian defence minister will leave Bishkek for Kabul.
