The anti-terrorist operation of the USA and its alliances in Afghanistan have not eliminated the channels of drugs smuggling.
This was disclosed at the rally, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Russian Frontier Guard detachment in Tajikistan, by Deputy Chairman of the Russian State Duma committee for Defence Alexei Arbatov.
According to him, a flow of drugs across the Tajik-Afghan border has not lessened, but on the contrary, intensified.
"Russian law-enforcement bodies had been repeatedly informing the USA on the places of drug plantations and drug laboratories, however the concrete measures were not taken," Aleksey Arbatov stressed.
After the rally, in the presence of the Russian State Duma Deputies and the commanding staff of the Russian Frontier Guard service in the Republic of Tajikistan, 260,8 kilograms of drugs were burnt, including heroin of type "77" and unprocessed opium, which were confiscated by the Russian Frontier Guard servicemen in Tajikistan.
