Russian-Afghan border connections

Russian and Afghan frontier troops have discussed measures of preventing illegal transit of people, cargoes, arms, ammunition and drugs via the Tajik-Afghani border, said the Russian frontier guards' press service in Tajikistan on Thursday.

The meeting was held on Wednesday at the Moscow frontier detachment's sector. The participants also touched upon a possibility of running joint preventive measures among the population of the border areas so as to diminish the level of border regime violation, as well as the troops' tasks on maintaining order at the state borders.

Russian frontier guards have discovered a cache in the sector of the Kalai-Khumsky detachment confiscating a grenade and a bayonet for a sub-machine-gun from it, the press service informed.
