According to the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus, Gennady Nevyglas, the State Secretary of the Security Council, left for Tehran yesterday, answering the January 2000 visit to Minsk of Hasan Rukhani, the Secretary of the High Council for State Security of Iran.
The two security COs intend to discuss further mutual efforts preventing and putting a stop to international terrorism, illegal drugs trade, and the spread of mass destruction weapons and the means of their production. The two officials will also exchange information as to the national systems of controlling exports; international and regional problems, including the current situation in the CIS, Central Asia, and the Middle East; settlement in Afghanistan and the possibility of Belarus' participation in the rehabilitation of its economy. The Belorussian Secretary of the State Security Council also intends to use his visit to lay ground for the visit to Minsk of Mohammad Khatami, Iran's President. The visit will end tomorrow, June 18.
