Moscow positively assesses meeting of four international mediators on Middle East

Moscow positively assesses the meeting of four international mediators (Russia, the USA, the EU and the UN) on the Middle East held on June 14 at the level of special envoys in Washington, the Russian Foreign Ministry's information and press department said on Saturday.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the meeting "has demonstrated the high level of their coordination and their close positions on the issues of defusing the crisis in the region and resuming the advance towards the comprehensive Arab-Israeli settlement." The participants in the meeting, the Foreign Ministry of Russia went on to say, confirmed the need to resolve simultaneously the problems of the termination of violence and the strengthening of security, and also the issues of reviving the political process. In this context, the mediators spoke about the improvement of the social and economic situation on the Palestinian territories, including the reformation of the Palestinian National Authority.

Apart from that, the four reached understanding on the continuation of joint efforts, in particular, in the context of preparing an international conference, the Russian Foreign Ministry concluded.
