Belarus intends to develop cooperation with Syria

Between Belarus and Syria there are no closed themes for cooperation. The head of the Belarussian state, Alexander Lukashenko, spoke about it at the meeting with Minister of the Economy and Foreign Trade of the Syrian Arab Republic Hassan al-Rifai.

"We can supply Syria with all kinds of commodities - from civil to military-technological products," said Alexander Lukashenko. According to him, the Belarussian leadership meets all the requirements and norms of international agreements which were concluded in the sphere of military-technological cooperation.

The head of the Belarussian state expressed a great interest in developing trade and economic cooperation with the Syrian Arab Republic. In particular, possibilities are studied for resuming the export of artificial threads and fibre to Syria. A big contract has been concluded with a Syrian oil company for delivering Belarussian automatic equipment to it. Projects are being studied for assembling tractors of the Minsk Tractor Plant in Syria and for modernising Syrian capacities for producing tyres.

Apart from that, the two countries are discussing the possibilities of the participation of Belarussian enterprises in prospecting for and producing Syrian oil, its refining and putting out oil products.
