7 out of 11 helicopter crash victims in Chile discharged from hospital

Six Russians and a Bolivian officer have been discharged from hospital in Arica, Northern Chile, where they were taken after their Mi-17 helicopter had crashed on the border between Chile and Bolivia on June 4.

On Wednesday evening, four of the crash victims were flown to the central military hospital of Santiago. According to a source in the Russian embassy to Santiago, three of them are suspected to be suffering from spinal injuries, and the fourth from a crack in the shin, but doctors think "they will all be able to run in a couple of weeks." The helicopter had crashed onto a peat-covered glacier -- because of bad weather conditions, pilots said.
