President of Pakistan speaks in favour of broker's services to settle the India-Pakistan conflict

On Tuesday Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf stated at a press conference in Alma Ata that he was in favour of agency services provided by a third party to settle the conflict between India and Pakistan.

According to him, such third party might be, in particular, a special UN delegation.

Musharraf indicated that presently UN representatives were already staying in the area of the conflict. According to Musharraf, the UN representatives should be "given additional controlling functions" at the control line.

While talking about the list presented on 3 June by India to Pakistan of 20 people suspected of being involved in terrorism and on whose extradition Delhi insisted, Pervez Musharraf stated that "those people took part in the events of the 80's" and Islamabad was not able "to go that far back in history." Talking about the Kashmir independence Musharraf stated that "the matter was dependent on the people who resided there."
