US Embassy in Moscow Cuts Visa Cost for Russian Citizens

According to the statement made at a press conference by James Warlick, the US Consul General in Moscow, beginning yesterday, the costs of obtaining US entrance visa by Russia's citizens have been cut.

On June 1, the cost of student and academic exchange visas was cut. Previously a visa was worth $ 495. Now while consular fees have gone up from $ 45 to $ 65, the price of each visa has been cut by 20%, which more than offsets the fees increase. This change goes for everywhere in the world.

Mr. Warlick further said, 'Cold War visa practices have been ended. In their joint statement, our Presidents pointed out the importance of contacts between the citizens of our countries'. The cut of the cost of visas will serve to increase the number of visitors to the US, especially young Russians and Russia's scientists, the Consul General believes.
