Bulgarian Premier in Moscow

Bulgarian Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha has arrived in Moscow on an official visit. Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to meet the Bulgarian Prime Minister in the Kremlin today.

In addition, the Bulgarian Premier is scheduled to meet his Russian counterpart Mikhail Kasyanov, the Russian Foreign Minister, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexis II and Russian parliamentarians.

According to Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, "it is time to improve relations between Bulgaria and Russia." The development of relations between Moscow and Sofia corresponds with the worldwide tendency, especially after the meeting between the Russian and US Presidents in Moscow and the Russia-NATO summit in Rome, which adopted the declaration on the establishment of a Russia-NATO Council, the Bulgarian Prime Minister said.

The Bulgarian Premier's meetings are expected to focus on preparations for the Bulgarian President's visit to Russia this autumn.

In addition, the sides will discuss the condition and prospects for trade and economic cooperation, especially in financial, oil, gas and nuclear spheres.

The sides will sign a Declaration on trade and economic and scientific-technical cooperation between Bulgaria and Russia, a Supplement to the Agreement on the fulfilment of mutual financial demands between Russia and Bulgaria and an interdepartmental agreement on cooperation between Russian and Bulgarian Ministries of Culture.
