Question of Russia's debt to Slovenia has not yet been resolved

The question of Russia's clearing debt to Slovenia has not yet been resolved, but this does not create problems in relations between the two countries, said Slovenian Ambassador to Russia Franci Demsar at a Moscow news conference on Monday.

The debt dates back to the time of the former Soviet Union when Slovenia was part of Federal Yugoslavia. Ljubljana believes that Russia's debt to it amounts to about 300 million dollars. However, this sum is not final, because the rate of the clearing dollar, which was used in accounts between the USSR and socialist Yugoslavia, has not yet been specified. Apart from that, the question of the division of the Soviet debt between the republics of former Yugoslavia has not yet been finally decided, said the diplomat.

According to him, Slovenia does not expect that the debt will be paid in cash. It can be compensated for by real estate or by shares of Russian enterprises.
