Moscow resolutely condemns terrorist act committed in Israeli town of Netania

Moscow "resolutely condemns the recent terrorist act which was committed by a kamikaze in the Israeli town of Netania on May 19, as a result of which three persons were killed and 56 injured, says the statement by official spokesman for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Alexander Yakovenko which RIA Novosti received on Monday. The Russian Foreign Ministry expressed its deep condolences to the families of the killed. One more explosion thundered in the town of Afula. "We have paid attention to the fact that this criminal act in Netania was also condemned by the authorities of the Palestinian National Administration and personally by Yasser Arafat," pointed out Alexander Yakovenko. According to him, Moscow considers it important that "the Palestinian administration should take all the necessary measures to stop the actions of extremists." The Russian Foreign Ministry has called upon the Israeli leadership "to keep cool and show maximum restraint." "Violence breeds violence. And the main thing today is to prevent frustration of the efforts for stabilising the situation in the Palestinian-Israeli relations," says the statement. These events have shown once again that "it is necessary to continue taking active measures for advancing to the normalisation of the situation around the Palestinian territories along three directions," points out the Russian Foreign Ministry. These directions are: the strengthening of security, including the restoration of the possibility of the Palestinian National Administration to fight terrorism, resumption of the political process and rehabilitation of the social and economic infrastructure on the West Bank and in the Gaza Strip," says the statement.
