Brazil: UNESCO crime report

The report made by UNESCO on crime in Brazil was released on Monday.

The report claims that most victims are young people, under 20 years of age, claiming that in the year 2000, no less than 46,000 people were murdered in Brazil, 17,762 of whom were young people, most of these being boys.

The UNESCO report declares that 70% of crimes in Brazil take place at weekends or on holidays.

This is the legacy left by 20 years of right-wing rule in Brazil, a country with high levels of corruption and an absence of social justice.
