Yugoslavian president on conditions for granting american assistance

Yugoslavia has no right to make comments on the statement made by American senator Joseph Biden. He voiced his stance on the conditions that Yugoslavia should meet to make American assistance possible. Yugoslavian President Vojislav Kostunica expressed this point of view in his article published in the NIN weekly on Friday. A RIA Novosti correspondent reports that a few days ago US Senator Biden urged the Yugoslavian President and the Serbian Prime Minister to apologize to Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina for the country's actions during the war in the former Yugoslavia. The Yugoslavian President noted in his article that Biden's statement on US further pressing Serbia to apologize means that in October, 2002 the Law on American assistance can stipulate another lobby-pushed demand, put forward to Yugoslavia. It would be senseless and foolish to take the label of the country and its people for genocide - what Biden wants us to do - to receive further American economic assistance. It does not mean however that we are neglecting the American assistance and the US support for our participation in international financial organizations, noted Vojislav Kostunica. At the same time he said that Yugoslavia should not be bribed to return to normal life. It means finding out the truth about what really happened during the past decade.
