Spain's, Denmark's, EU Ambassadors to visit Chechnya

Jose Maria Robles Fraga, Spanish Ambassador to Russia, Lars Vissing, his Danish counterpart, and Richard Write, in charge of the European Union representation in Russia, are visiting the North Caucasus, May 15 into 18, reports the ambassadorial information adviser's staff of Spain, currently EU chair country. The visitors aim to obtain firsthand information about Chechen developments. As their schedule has it, they are arriving tomorrow morning in Nazran, capital of Ingushetia, which borders on Chechnya, for conference with Ahmed Malsagov, republican acting president. The diplomats will move to Grozny, Chechen capital, May 16, to see Ahmad Kadyrov, provisional republican administration head, and the top prosecutor's officers, next to visit several Grozny neighbourhoods. They are expected in the township Znamenskoye the next day to confer with Vladimir Kalamanov, federal presidential human rights envoy. The itinerary finishes in Nazran, May 18, to inspect Chechen refugee camps in and round the town.
