Vladimir Putin speaks up for promoting Collective Security Treaty

The Collective Security Treaty "has become an efficient tool for protecting the peaceful life of the peoples, ensuring the national interests of the signatory countries," Russian President Vladimir Putin has said. In the Alexander Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace on Tuesday, opening up a summit-level session of the Collective Security Council, the Russian head of state emphasized that "coordinated actions" of the Treaty's member states "are invariably aimed at the efficient ensurance of stability in the responsibility zone of the Collective Security Treaty". Putin said that "today, when the geopolitical situation is rapidly changing," we are facing goals of further strengthening of the Treaty, adapting its mechanism so as to counteract new unconventional challenges and threats the member countries are being faced with. The Russian president has voiced the conviction that embodiment of the agreements which have been worked out at today's get-together "will substantially enrich the content of the military-political cooperation between the member states of the Collective Security Treaty". They are Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrghyzstan and Tajikistan.
