Leader of Albanian militants arrested in Southern Serbia

On Tuesday the International peace keeping forces in Kosovo (KFOR) arrested Albanian Sevcet Muslia, one of the former commanders of the so-called the Liberating Army of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medveda (OVPBM). Until the last year the Army fought against Yugoslavian security forces in three Southern Serbian regions adjacent to Kosovo. The news was confirmed by a KFOR spokesman Gotfrid Zalhner and the detainee's brother, a former press spokesman for an illegal Albanian armed group Unue Muslia. The reasons and the details of the arrest are not known. In May 2001 as a result of negotiations with active participation of the world community, the Albanian militants in Southern Serbia laid down arms. Yet the armed provocations in the region continue, though on a smaller scale.
