President of Tajikistan and US ambassador discuss issues of cooperation Dushanbe

Prospects for mutually advantageous cooperation, elaboration and implementation of the programme of microcrediting were discussed on Tuesday by president of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmonov and the US ambassador in the republic. This is their second meeting in recent time, and both of them were devoted to the economic questions, reported press secretary of the Tajik president Zafar Saidov. According to him, in the context of traditional political consultations the president and the ambassador discussed issues connected with regional security, the situation in Afghanistan, and rendering joint humanitarian assistance to that country. We want to render fundamental economic assistance to Tajikistan, the US ambassador told journalists after the meeting. Some time in the near future, he said, the US government will render technical assistance to the Tajik border guards to the sum of 3.5 million dollars. The US international cooperation agency is ready to allocate 7.5 million dollars for the development of small businesses in Tajikistan.
