Moscow's Armenian diaspora marking commemoration day of Armenian genocide in Turkey

The Armenian community in Moscow is marking the Commemoration Day of Armenians' genocide in Turkey. The representatives of the diaspora held a meeting near the Armenian church in the centre of the Russian capital in order to commemorate their countrymen, who died in 1915. They are also planning to organize an action of protest in front of the Turkish Embassy. In 1915 Turkey, that in the World War I fought against Russia, started gradually to deport and kill its citizens of the Armenian origin. The reason for it was traditional pro-Russian atmosphere among Armenians, who are also orthodox. Millions of Armenians fell victims to the genocide. Turkey has so far refused to acknowledge this historical fact. This problem remains on the agenda of the world community. Russia was one of the first to denounce the Armenian genocide in 1995.
