Macedonia Declares April 30 As Mourning Day

The government of Macedonia has declared Monday, April 30 as the day of mourning regarding the "mean and monstrous" terrorist act committed by Albanian separatists last Saturday. That terrorist act killed 8 and wounded 7 servicemen of the security forces of Macedonia. At a sitting the Macedonian government expressed profound condolences to the families of the servicemen and decided on giving financial backing to them. The RIA Novosti correspondent reports that the Macedonian government sees the terrorist act committed by a subversion group of Albanian militants as a treat to the country's security. The cabinet has obliged the relative ministries to take additional security measures so as to prevent use-of-force acts in the territory of Macedonia and emergence of new critical hotbeds. The defense and interior ministries have been instructed to begin operative-tactical measures to prevent the infiltration of Albanian extremists into Macedonia from Kosovo. The Macedonian government has again called on the international Kosovo force with maximal responsibility to meet its goals on the basis of the resolution 1244 of the United Nations' Security Council and not to allow the penetration of illegal groups of terrorists from Kosovo into Macedonia.
