China's Foreign Minister Is Certain Danilov Case Will Not Tell On Bilateral Cooperation

The case of Valentin Danilov, a scientist from Krasnoyarsk, will not tell on development of the Russian-Chinese scientific and technological cooperation, China's Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan told journalists in Moscow. Moreover, the Minister stressed, Chinese scientists are determined to expand their cooperation with Russia. On Sunday, investigators of the Federal Security Service, or FSB, department for the Krasnoyarsk Territory officially arraigned Valentin Danilov, who had been earlier arrested and detained in custody, with violating articles 275 (high treason) and 159 (fraud) of the Russian Criminal Code. According to a local FSB spokesman, Valentin Danilov, a leading researcher at the Krasnoyarsk Research Institute of Heating Engineering, is charged with transferring classified information to a Chinese company operating in the area of high-precision mechanical engineering.
