NATO Inspectors Find In Russia No Violations Of Treaty On Conventional Armed Forces In Europe

A group of NATO military inspectors has not found any violations by the Russian side of the treaty on conventional armed forces in Europe in the Moscow Military District. Nine NATO inspectors arrived April 23 in a motorised rifle brigade of the Moscow Military District, which is deployed in the Tver Region. The group consists of seven representatives of the US armed forces and two officers from Denmark and Portugal. The group of NATO inspectors, concerned about the staff exercise in the territory of the military district in which over a thousand reservists took part, checked up on the conformity of the actual amount of military equipment and arms in the brigade with the parameters reported by the Russian side. Having found no violations, the NATO inspectors completed their mission in Tver Wednesday afternoon. -O- (kos/kom) 25/04/01 17:09
