Sгo Tome: Election draw

The elections in Sao Tome and Principe islands have ended in a technical draw between the president’s party and the opposition.

This former Portuguese colony off the west coast of central Africa completed the second round of the legislative election on Sunday. The party of President Fradique de Menezes, MDFM/PCD (Democratic Movement Force for Change) received 23 seats in Parliament, the main opposition party, MLSTP/PSD (Social democrats) received 23 seats and the remaining 9 seats went to the Eu-Kedadji coalition, led by ex-President Miguel Trovoada.

However, the party with most votes was MDFM/PCD, which will form government.
