Georgians Tired of Confrontation with Russia

Deputy Chairman of the Georgian Parliament Vahtang Rcheushvili delivered to Moscow a statement addressed to the Presidents, Parliaments, Governments and Press of Russia and Georgia signed by the Georgian people. As Vadim Gustav, the Chairman of the Russian Federation Committee for the CIS Issues, told reporters today, the petition was prepared at the Georgian Parliament and signed by more than 620,000 Georgian citizens. The Statement reads that people in Georgia are tired of long-standing confrontation between Russia and Georgia, stating that it does not let them live a normal life, be friends, and respect each other. Common people are not to blame for the situation, but it is they who suffer the most. The relations between the two countries have to be fixed, because without restoring old friendship, new partnerships are impossible.
