Russia Supports Cambodia's Policy Of Strengthening National Accord

Russia backs the Cambodian leadership's policy line of strengthening national accord and carrying out deep socio-economic reforms and democratic changes in the country. RIA Novosti was told this at the information and press department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia in connection with the tenth anniversary of the signing of the Paris agreements on an all-embracing political settlement of the Cambodian conflict, the agreements which laid the foundation for national reconciliation in Cambodia. "The concerted efforts of the world community and the goodwill displayed by the Cambodians led to the cessation of the bloodshed in the country and the restoration of the Kingdom of Cambodia", the department officials noted. Moscow made a contribution of its own to the preparation and successful holding of the Paris conference on Cambodia. As the officials of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted, Russia, alongside other countries acted as a guarantor of the accords attained at it. Moscow notes with satisfaction that "today the leading political forces of Cambodia constructively interact for the sake of revival of their state and peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region".
